Why Moral Education Matters as Much as Academics

Ask most parents what they want for their children, and academic success is only part of the answer. They also want their children to grow into honest, kind, responsible people.

At Ridvan Academy, we take this seriously. Alongside our academic curriculum, our teachers work to model and reinforce qualities like truthfulness, cooperation, and respect for others. This isn't a separate subject taught once a week — it's woven into how classrooms are run, how conflicts are resolved, and how students are encouraged to treat one another.

This approach is inspired in part by the Baha'i teaching that the purpose of education is, ultimately, the promotion of the oneness of humankind. When children learn from an early age to see each other's dignity and worth, they carry that outlook with them into adulthood — into their families, workplaces, and communities.

We've seen this play out in small ways: older students helping younger ones, children speaking up when something is unfair, and a general sense of warmth and mutual respect across our campuses. These may seem like small things, but we believe they matter as much as any test score.
